I learned how to make pine needle baskets in a honeycomb house in Sarasota, FL, living with my friends in 2015. I made a few palm-sized ones, gave them to friends, and then got re-absorbed into my full time working and graduate school life. In 2019, a first visit to a client’s property inspired me to begin weaving again.

The pines really spoke to me, and the entire sandhill plant community was alive with amber mystique. This seemed like a beautiful way to begin again a creative outlet that speaks to the sense of place pines create in Florida.
